HOW IT WORKS
A clean link in three steps
- Paste or share the link. Paste whatever you copied, or on Android send it to this tool from the Share menu.
- See the traces, unwrap the redirects. UTM tags and ad click IDs are listed one by one; redirect links from Facebook, Instagram, Google and similar are turned into the real address. For short links a button appears: if you press it, only that short link goes to our server and you see where it leads.
- Share the clean link. Copy it or share it as a QR code.

Frequently asked questions
Does this tool send my link anywhere?
No, with one exception. Parsing, unwrapping redirects and cleaning happen in your browser, in JavaScript. Only when you ask for a short link like bit.ly with the "Open short link and clean" button is that short link sent to our server.
What is a UTM parameter?
UTM parameters (like utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) are tags marketers add to a URL to track which channel and campaign a link came from.
What do parameters like fbclid or gclid do?
These are unique IDs that platforms like Facebook, Google, and TikTok generate to tie a single click to your identity. The link works fine without them; they exist only for ad measurement.
Will cleaning break the link?
This tool only removes known tracking parameters that are safe to drop. It never touches parameters the page actually needs to work.
Which tracking parameters does it remove?
Dozens of known trackers, including Google's click IDs (gclid, gclsrc, dclid, gbraid, wbraid, _ga, _gl, and similar), Meta/Instagram's IDs (fbclid, igshid, igsh, and similar), and every marketing tag carrying the utm_ prefix (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and similar).
How does the QR code feature work?
A QR code for the cleaned link is generated entirely client-side, in your browser; neither the link nor the QR code is ever sent to a server.
How are Facebook, Instagram and Google redirect links unwrapped?
In your browser, without sending anything to a server. Links such as l.facebook.com/l.php, l.instagram.com, google.com/url, youtube.com/redirect and out.reddit.com carry the real address inside a parameter; the tool extracts it, decodes it if it was encoded twice, and cleans the real destination.
How are short links (bit.ly, t.co and similar) opened?
The real address of a short link can only be found by following its redirect, so this step runs on our server and only when you press the button. The server receives only that short link, follows up to 5 redirects on known shortener sites, returns the address it finds, does not store or log the link, and never connects to the destination site the redirect ends on.
How do I use it from the Share menu on Android?
Install the site from your browser menu with "Install app" or "Add to Home screen", then choose URL Cleaner++ in the Share menu of any app. The link lands in the box and is cleaned right away. This works on Android in Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome; Safari on iPhone does not support it.
